Happy New Year!

The new year is off to a good start!  We enjoyed our time visiting with Jamie's family over the holidays, then just a few days later, William's family arrived in Utah to visit their first grandchild (and us, too)!
Aside from constantly staring at Kate, we also managed to get in a couple games of bowling, do a little shopping, celebrate Christmas and go snowmobiling!  It was all fun, but snowmobiling was a blast!  We had never been, and our soon-to-be brother-in-law :) was really interested in going.  We drove to Midway and had a 2-hour 'tour' with plenty of playing around and beautiful scenery (the trails through the trees were gorgeous!).
Kate is getting so cute!  She always was cute ;), but she's starting to develop a bit more of a personality and is SO close to smiling.  She makes noises all the time and loves to snuggle with us (when she's not stretching out all her limbs).  It's hard to believe she's almost 7 weeks old!
A few cute photos this week - one of Kate in her crib with her adorable cousins, one of William's parents' reactions to seeing Kate for the first time, and one of beautiful Kate!

Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
We had a wonderful Christmas day spent with family.  It was amazing to have our first Christmas with Kate!  And Kristen had her second baby this year, so we had 3 little girls to celebrate with!  Christmas is such a special holiday - and to spend it with loved ones makes it that much better.
Also this week Jamie's family from California arrived for a visit.  We've had lots of fun playing games, watching movies, and EATING!  What a great excuse to eat a little more than we should! :)
We hope all of your holidays are going great...and have a Happy New Year!

Kate had her 2-week doctor's appointment on Tuesday.  She weighed 6 lb. 1/2 oz.!  The doctor was thrilled with her weight gain and said that usually by the 2-week appointment they would hope to have her back up to her birth weight -- she surpassed that by almost 10 oz.!  So she's growing, and healthy, and strong...she moves a lot and has pretty good control of her head.  She's awake and alert often - we love watching her look around.
Saturday we had a family Christmas party with Jamie's cousins...Grandma and Grandpa in California sent all their great-grandkids (5 now!) cute little striped sweaters.  Kate's is more of a jumpsuit with a hood - that's the photo we've posted.  They all looked so cute!
Now we're just getting ready for Christmas and family visits...we wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!

Week 2

We had a wonderful baby shower yesterday!  Thank you so much to those of you who planned, prepared, attended, and 'showered' with gifts!  Kate received some very nice presents.  And it was very nice to visit with everyone, too.
This morning we bathed her in her new tub (thanks Georges!) -- she really seemed to like it!
Here are a couple pictures from Kate's second week.

Kate's First Week

Kate had a lovely first week of life!  She has been getting better at sleeping during the night with only 2 or 3 feedings.  She's nearly finishing her 2 ounce bottles.  And she's cute as can be. :)
She had her first doctor's visit and weighed in at 5 lb. 3.5 oz.  She's 18" long and appears to be perfectly healthy!
She also lost her umbilical cord already...we, being first time parents, were a little freaked out at first.  But it's healing nicely.
We've posted a couple more photos we've taken of her during the week.  It sure is fun having a little one in the house!

Welcome Baby Kate!

We thought if ever there was a reason to start a blog for ourselves, this would be it!!!

We have been chosen to be the parents of adorable Kate Isabella!
She was scheduled to arrive on Christmas day -- talk about the best gift ever!  But she decided she'd like to come early, and arrived in perfect health on December 1, 2007 at 10:24pm.  She weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces and was 17 inches long.  She stayed at the hospital for two days, then with her birthmother and family for one more day - she was placed in our arms on December 4 and our lives have been forever changed!  We love it!
