Six Months!

It's been a while since we last posted to this blog, and in the meantime our little baby has turned 6 months old!   She is such a joy in our lives.  She is getting so big - she eats cereal, almost sits up unassisted, loves to stand, roll over, talk & scream!  We're having so much fun!
We took a weekend vacation to Missouri to visit William's family - poor little Kate showed her first signs of being scared and a bit overwhelmed!  But overall, she did great and had a very nice visit with all of his family (they were so excited to see her!).  She went to her first Cubs baseball game at Busch stadium (Cards won in extra innings), and got to see cows on her great grandpa's farm.
Otherwise, not much new to report - things are good with us!  A couple of new photos - one with Kate's messy cereal face (and ponytail!) and another with her 1/2 birthday cake. :)

California

Kate had her first airplane ride!  We took her to visit Jamie's family in California and had a fabulous time!  They were having record-breaking heat that weekend (in the 90s!), so we had plenty of fun in the sun.  We went to the beach 3 times (see bikini photo! - but don't worry, she didn't really sunbathe or play in the water...), went shopping, played with cousins, walked through some beautiful gardens, played paddle tennis...we think Kate is hooked!  She's a California beach bum!

St. George

We took a nice weekend vacation to southern Utah with Jamie's family...it was really fun!  Good weather, pretty red rocks, hiking, shopping, swimming...quite refreshing. :)  Kate did OK on the car ride and had a nice first mini-vacation.  Everyone had a good time!

Spring!

We're really excited for Spring this week!  Things are going well for all of us here.  William started his new job 2 weeks ago and really enjoys it!  Jamie has been back to work for a month now and it's not too bad.  95% of it being 'not too bad' is knowing that we have such great family watching Kate!
Speaking of Kate -- she's so cute!  She is really getting to have a fun personality.  She smiles all the time and has even started to giggle.  She loves to 'talk' with us by making noises and trying to imitate the shapes we make with our lips.  She is almost rolling over and loves to play with (and eat) her hands.
Here are a couple more adorable photos of her!

Not much new to report with us, but we thought we'd post a couple more photos of Kate.  She changes every day!
William was home sick from work for an entire week...he had a nasty sinus infection that moved into his lungs.  Yuck.  But he's feeling much better now!  So far Kate & I have been pretty healthy...
Jamie (unfortunately) went back to work part time this week.  It's really not too bad...I work 3 afternoons a week and Kate has playdates with her aunt & cousins, great-grandma, grandma & daddy.  We're lucky to have family close by who are willing and excited to help us out!
It's hard to believe she'll be 3 months old this week...time flies when you're having fun!

Doctor's Visit

Here's a photo of Kate in the dress William's mom made for her...isn't she a pretty one? :)

So she had her 2 month doctor's appointment about a week ago.  The nurse said how much Kate looks like her daddy. :)  It's always fun to hear that!  Anyway, she weighed in at 8 lb. 2 oz. and was just over 21" long.  Isn't that crazy?  She's 2 months old and still smaller than a lot of newborns.  The doctor said that if she had been delivered on her due date, she'd only be in about the 3rd percentile for height and weight.  But, since she was almost a month early, he said she's in about the 50th percentile for a one-month-old.  She's doing well!  The cool part is that she behaves like a two-month-old in that she smiles, maintains eye contact, and knows who her mom & dad are. ;)

The sad part of the visit was that she had to have 5 shots in her thighs...I couldn't watch!  William held her while the nurse did her work...Kate screamed and cried, and I have to admit that I cried a little bit too!  It's so sad that they don't know what's going on.  But she recovered quickly and hopefully won't remember how bad it was when it comes time for her 4 month shots. :)
